This is a historical place where we had our 1st meeting with The Chairman of Sabah Tourism Board, Datuk Tengku Adlin and his wife on 06/05/2010 9:30am. We made a river cruise and were fortunate to see Proboscis Monkeys within that vicinity.

Ikan Kitang

Hajjah on her 1st day fishing with newly bought fishing rod caught an Ikan KITANG at Beringgis Eco-Tourism's jetty. She was very happy and also considered very lucky because she just threw the fishing bait and in a few minutes the fish responded instantly and she got it .
This video picture was taken by her daughter Nena at arround 5.15 pm on Sunday 13/02/2011.

This is the Ikan Kitang.

Bob used plier to unhook the bait from the fish to refrain from the fish sting.

Look at the video picture of Ikan Kitang caught by Hjh at Beringgis Eco Tourism's jetty.

This is the 2nd and 3rd fish cought by Azlina Iranie on the same day and time with her mummy (Hjh) at the same vicinity. see the vedio.

1st Catch!!!

The 1st catch today is Mangrove crab at Beringgis Eco-Tourism.

What I want to show by marking a circle in the picture on the left side is a King Fisher bird which could be found in this vicinity of mangrove trees along the river bank.

Look at what I caught... a kilo weight of Ikan Merah in this river. Its really fun, especially using my brand new fishing rod and net.
You see at the eye and the upper fins of this a new catch fish. Its shinning blue in colour n look real fresh.

Worth the trip and managed to locate the site of the Prosboscis monkey in this vicinity.

We caught Ikan Merah, Ikan Uguhut, and two different types of Ikan Utik. A white and Yellow Utik. The yellow type usually found in the deep sea.

Very happy and worth the sweat.

"Eco-Tourism is now opened. Located at KM26 Beringgis, Kinarut Papar highways. Take 1st junction to the Left once you reach Beringgis Beach Resort. On this left junction is a school compound area known as 'Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Beringgis'.
Proceed until the 2nd left junction of gravel road. Keep on to that track for about 100 meters than take 1st Right and to the Left and straight to the site. It's about 900 meter or 0.9km from the 1st Left main junction to the site.
The 1st. impression; look at these pictures.

Pictures below. This is the river view taken during the low tide.
On the left, is the view heading toward upperside of the river while on the right view is to the river mouth to the sea of South China Sea.

A boat ride to watch Proboscis monkey (huge-bellied, long-nosed primates with long white tail) is by taking the left view of the picture. It takes about 10-15 minutes ride along the river view. Usually they come out at arround 3.30 to 4.30 pm. They are still very wild and having difficulties to have a closure look.

The pictures of Beringgis Eco-Tourism Plateform and Jetty was taken during the low tide.

During the high tide, the water is just about the level of this plateform. Adjacent to this plateform, a natural landscape like a pool being identified and some major earth work and clearing has been done to suit for swimming pool. So during the high tide this pool would be full with river water. Kids would have fun swimming inside this pool while parents watching them from this plateform or facing the river view for doing fishing.

Look at those weekend activity of school going children and parent too were having fun doing fishing. This picture was taken during low tide view.

Look at the kind of fish available in this river. There are just like the fish caught from the sea. The river mouth is just about 5 minutes ride to the sea.

This fish is locally known as 'Ikan Gelama or Jarang Gigi'
